This monthly newsletter is a wonderful, fun resource for all information related to our club!
President's Message
This month is Basic Education and Literacy Month. In my 9th year of teaching, I often remind myself why I got into teaching. It has nothing to do with the glamorous pay, 10-hour workdays, or 7 hours a day educating moody teenagers with attitudes, but the impact that I can make on a student's life. I teach because my students deserve to know every day that they are valued for who they are and what they contribute to the world. I love to see change happen in kids’ lives. That’s why I teach.
We know that basic education and literacy are essential for reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging community and economic development, and promoting peace. A basic education can change the outcome of a life. Discover how Rotary clubs around the globe are supporting education on Rotary Showcase.
What can you do to impact and prepare today's youth for tomorrow's world? (This is your homework for September!)
This month, we look forward to participating in a rescheduled trail clean-up along the infamous Cedar Valley Nature Trail, touring Prairiewoods, and hearing from an outbound Youth Exchange student and a RYLArian. Watch your email with more information from Secretary Erin Steffen. Additional service projects may come available throughout the month!
If you are interested in learning something new or have an idea of a speaker or a service project, please reach out to me so we can work together to get it on the schedule!
