This monthly newsletter is a wonderful, fun resource for all information related to our club!
President's Message
At the 2023 Rotary International Convention, President R. Gordon R. McInally asked all Rotary members to become champions in our effort to illuminate mental health needs near and far. This includes helping one another feel more supported, advocating for mental health services, and building bridges with experts in the field to expand access to treatment.
Our club has a unique opportunity to learn from an expert from the mental health field at our upcoming meeting in November. In a two-part series, Wendy Stokesbary, LMHC, will guide us through an interactive exchange regarding myths and facts in the world of mental health and wellness. We will learn about the bio-psycho-social model of mental health and practice using resources that support our own understanding of mental health for ourselves and the people we care about. I hope that you are able to join us.
Our worldwide community and our foundational value prioritizing Service Above Self makes Rotary a powerful global advocate for mental health. A recently published study by the Ohio State University found performing acts of kindness was the only one of three mental health interventions tested that helped people feel more connected to others. Doing good not only transforms the communities we serve, but it also transforms us.
Check out "Volunteer Opportunities" article below with act of kindess ideas that give back to our local community.
As always, watch your email with more information from Secretary Erin Steffen or myself. Additional service projects may come available throughout the month!
If you are interested in learning something new or have an idea of a speaker or a service project, please reach out to me so we can work together to get it on the schedule!
Each year, Rotary International highlights November as Rotary Foundation Month to emphasize the importance of and need for Rotarian support of The Rotary Foundation.
With the holidays coming up, giving is top of mind. But as a Rotarian, you know we give year-round! Our Little Free Food Pantry in Marion is one of our long-running projects. It’s three little shelves seem simple enough, but what we and other donors put inside means someone in our community isn’t going hungry for the night.
