As the Rotary year draws to a close, we have some great achievements to recognize!

In the last newsletter, it was mentioned that we had reached our goal for Annual Fund giving. We've gone even further beyond that amount! At the beginning of the year, we set a goal of $4,400. At the end of April, we had $4,800. At the end of May, we had $5,484. What a great achievement! Thank you to everyone who continues to give to the Annual Fund. Your contributions are truly making a difference in the lives of others through the power of Rotary.

We are "THIS CLOSE" to reaching our second Rotary Foundation goal of $1,700 to Polio Plus. To incentivize our goal, I highly recommend that you become an inaugural member of our District 5970 PolioPlus Society.

To become a member all you need to do is complete the PolioPlus Society pledge form, print, sign and send to District 5970 Foundation Chairperson John Wasta at john.wasta@gmail.com or mail to 221 Kent Ct NE, Cedar Rapids, IA  52402. As a member of the PolioPlus Society, you pledge to donate a minimum of $100 USD each year to The PolioPlus Fund until the world is certified polio free by the World Health Organization.

If you sign up and donate this Rotary year 2021–2022 (the year ends JUNE 30) you will become a Founding Member of the District 5970 Polio Plus Society.

Of course, all donations will be matched 2 to 1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation making this an even better opportunity, as well as receiving Paul Harris Credit for your donation.

The easiest way to donate is to go to My.rotary.org/donate and click on “polio fund.”

Make a one-time donation of $100 (or more) with your credit card by clicking on the “One-time donation” button and choosing the appropriate amount from the boxes below.

The other choice is what we call the “easy” way to become a PolioPlus Society member by utilizing the monthly payment option. Click the “Recurring Donation” button. For frequency choose “monthly” and for amount choose “other” and enter $10 in the “enter other amount” box. If you wish to donate more, or quarterly or annually instead, you have those choices as well. (To donate online, make sure you have registered on myrotary.org for a My Rotary account for you and your club to receive proper credit. Signing up is quick and easy).

You can also donate by writing a check to “The Rotary Foundation” with “PolioPlus” in the memo section and mailing your donation to the District Foundation Chair with your signed pledge form. Help Rotarians reach every last child and achieve our vision of a polio free world.

If you have questions, please contact the District Foundation Committee Chairperson at 319-440-59559 or john.wasta@gmail.com or our club Foundation Committee Chairperson, Cody Crawford
